343 Industries Teases Halo 5’s Next DLC

Yesterday marked the 15th anniversary of the Halo series, and 343 Industries celebrated by releasing a special video that teased the franchise’s future. Not only was 343 teasing Halo 6 with the video, but it seems as though the studio was also pointing to future DLC for Halo 5: Guardians, which is over a year old and still receiving regular content updates. The teaser shows close-up shots of various weapons, but other than that, it’s hard to glean any solid info from it. We know that future DLC plans for Halo 5: Guardians include new maps, so perhaps some of the locations briefly seen in the teaser will be represented in the new maps. The teaser does tend to focus more on weaponry, though, so maybe 343 is planning to release more new weapons than maps for Halo 5 in its future DLC. Regardless of what’s coming in the new DLC, Halo 5‘s post-launch support from 343 has been substantial so far, and if the teaser is any indication, it still has plenty more free DLC in mind for the game. Check out some more DLC making its way to Halo 5: Guardians in the brief teaser trailer below:

Past Halo 5 content updates have been rather significant. Since launch, Halo 5 has enjoyed the addition of Forge mode, numerous maps, new match types, and Warzone Firefight. Considering how comprehensive past Halo 5 updates have been, one has to imagine that 343 will be looking to keep that streak going with the next expansion for the game, whatever it brings to the table. Some fans may still be holding out on 343 adding split-screen multiplayer to Halo 5, even after all this time. The exclusion of split-screen drew the ire of many Halo fans leading up to the game’s launch, and continues to be a criticism levied against it to this day, especially with other Microsoft titles like Gears of War 4 supporting the popular feature. Unfortunately for those wanting to see split-screen added to Halo 5, there’s nothing in the teaser that suggests it’s coming, and fans are better off keeping their fingers crossed that 343 will change its tune with the next game in the series. Whatever is coming to Halo 5 next, fans are expecting quality content, and 343 hasn’t let them down yet. The company has consistently supported Halo 5 since its launch last October, and will be looking to go out with a bang before moving on to Halo 6. Fans should be able to find out if 343 is successful in that regard soon, though the company has not yet offered a release date for the new DLC. Halo 5: Guardians is available now for Xbox One.
