“Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare” has a lot of new things going for it, not all of which have been well-received by fans of the series. Now, new details about its multiplayer feature have been revealed and they actually sound promising.
First is what’s called Combat Rigs, which basically works like an upgrade system that players can choose from to customize their game, The International Business Times reports. It can be broken down into three distinct categories; Warfighter, Merc, And Synaptic.
Choosing which one to use provides players with different tools and characteristics meant to suit different playstyles. The Merc Rig is for players who like to take on the role of tanks. Synaptic is basically for those who like to use mech-style gameplay since it comes with the ability to use drones in combat. Finally, Warfighter is an all-purpose Rig that allows for close to mid-range combat, making it perfect for anyone who wants to be able to adjust easily.
Then there are the tactical options that come with the multiplayer mode for Combat and Traits. Combat is where players can use weapons and other items they earn throughout their matches. Traits are passive characteristics that provide players with different buffs during matches.
The best part about these new features is that they can be changed even when in the middle of a match. So if a Rig is not working out for the player, it can easily be switched. There’s more, however, as Infinity Ward’s Jordan Hirsch spoke with PlayStation Lifestyle recently to talk about Mission Teams to explains what it’s about.
“Mission Teams is sort of a meta on top of the typical player experience,” Hirsch said. “So you’ll join up with a mission team, and that mission team will have a specific set of challenge types that you’ll do in the match. The JTF Wolverines are tied to pretty typical Call of Duty actions like, get five headshots, get 10 kills, things like that.”
