Destiny 2 Comic Includes Secret Code for In-Game Loot

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 developer Bungie has now released a new webcomic that delves into some of the game’s lore. Called the Fall of Osiris, the free webcomic discusses sheds light on Osiris’ fall from grace and exactly what the character from the Curse of Osiris DLC expansion has been up to.

However, the free webcomic isn’t just an excuse to read up on Destiny 2 lore. Developer Bungie has also included a secret for, particularly eagle-eyed readers. Destiny 2 fans have spotted a secret code on one of the comic’s pages. Right above the ‘Prophecies of Osiris’ sign (pictured below), there appears to be a sequence of dashes of dots. It’s Morse code and when translated, it allows fans to unlock a piece of in-game loot for Destiny 2.

The translated code is xfvkhpn97 and it can be redeemed by going to bungie.net/redeem. Redeeming that code will unlock a Destiny 2 emblem called The Visionary (it shows up in the collection under ‘Emblems 2’). It’s a bright yellow emblem with a black, eye insignia. It’s nothing particularly flashy but most Destiny 2 players have yet to catch on to the code or redeem it meaning that when in-game, the emblem should stand out even more.

Destiny 2 The Visionary emblem

The Visionary emblem is just the latest example of Bungie offering free in-game loot (usually emblems) for taking part in things that happen outside of the game. For example, it was recently announced that those who purchase the real-life Destiny 2 loot crate will unlock an exclusive emblem and Bungie also offered free emblem codes to shoppers who bought Destiny merch during its Black Friday sale.

It will also be interesting to see whether Bungie plans to offer more in-game loot and decipherable secrets like this in future Destiny 2 webcomics, too. Doing so would be a great way to reward players who stay engaged with the game and its lore whether they’re in the game world or not. The more that players learn about Destiny 2‘s characters and its setting, the more they will want to keep playing the game and spending money on it (in terms of microtransactions and expansion DLC).

It’s in Bungie’s best interest to sweeten the pot for players, including by offering more in-game rewards. Fingers crossed these goodies will continue.
