The Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris DLC expansion has now been released and it allows players of Bungie’s hit first-person shooter to visit Mercury. Mercury offers plenty of new things to see and do, from The Lighthouse social space to a new public event.
The Mercury public event also has a heroic version, but just like the Heroic Public Events in the base Destiny 2 game, Curse of Osiris DLC players will have to go out of their way to activate it.
As explained in the video below by Destiny 2 YouTuber Esoterickk, after players have headed to one of the islands to shut down the first warp gate, several floating Vex objects will spawn. Players will then need to kill all of these Vex objects. Killing these objects causes platforms to spawn and players are able to jump on these and players and reach the top, where they can stand on the Vex plate to activate the Heroic Public Event.
The Heroic Public Event provides players with an increased challenge, though it also comes with an increased reward. Completing a Heroic Public Event rewards players with 500 clan XP (as opposed to 250 clan XP from the garden variety Public Event), which is especially useful for unlocking the Season 2 clan rewards.
However, it should be noted that the Heroic Public Event on Mercury does have a small bug regarding the reward notification. According to comments on social media, if players defeat the event’s boss too quickly and do not go through two shield phases, the game will say “Event Complete” instead of “Heroic Event Complete” even if they have actually triggered a Heroic Public Event. Players will still get the Heroic Public Event rewards though, say those who’ve come across the issue, but this isn’t properly reflected in the reward notification text.
Between the Heroic Public Event, the return of the Heroic Strike Playlist, and the new Leviathan Raid lair, Destiny 2 players looking for a challenge should be pretty happy with the Curse of Osiris DLC expansion. Not only does the DLC add plenty of new content but it also adds quite a bit of new content at a slightly higher difficulty, which is perfect for those looking for a test and a chance to get better rewards. Hopefully, Bungie will keep the game stocked with tough things to do with future updates and DLC releases too.
