Destiny 2: How to Use EDZ Tokens to Earn Legendary Engrams

Destiny 2 releases September 6, 2017, for PS4 and Xbox One, and October 24 for PC.

Destiny 2

Let’s face it, when it came to patrolling areas in Destiny 1, they lost their luster very fast. But in Destiny 2, Bungie is hoping to change that by giving players more to do in each destination and new ways to grind for loot.

One way that patrol areas will help players acquire new gear is through tokens, which are unique to the four planetary destinations. The first tokens players will encounter are the EDZ Tokens for the European Dead Zone, but there are also tokens for Nessus, IO, and Titan.

Earning Destination Tokens

Each type of token is unique to its patrol area and can be earned by opening chests, completing adventures, and finishing Public Events. EDZ Tokens, for example, will drop regularly for players, provided that they are consistently completing new activities.

Once the player has acquired a decent stack of Destiny 2 tokens, they can take them to the respective destination’s vendor. In the case of the European Dead Zone, that vendor is Devrim Kay, and giving him EDZ Tokens will increase the player’s reputation with him. Once the reputation meter is full, Devrim will gift the player a Legendary Engram.

Each of the tokens will increase the reputation of the respective patrol area’s vendor. So if the player is on Nessus, they will visit Failsafe and give her Nessus Tokens in exchange for a legendary engram.

Using Tokens to Increase Reputation

Since Destiny 2 introduces some changes to the engram system, the Legendary Engram that players can claim will have a power level tied to it. And that power level will be determined by the highest gear in the player’s entire inventory, spread across each character and in the vault.

It’s also worth noting that there are other ways to increase one’s reputation with a vendor, but tokens are the most surefire way. There are other rare materials around each destination (think Spinmetal) that can be traded in for a reputation boost.

Ultimately, it’s unclear how long the EDZ Tokens and those connected to the other destinations will be worth collecting for players as they drive towards the Destiny 2 power level cap, but at the outset, they should be worth seeking out. And when that first one drops, you should know exactly what to do with it.
