The Regalia, the stylish car from Final Fantasy 15, is leaving Eos and heading to Forza Horizon 3. Microsoft revealed the news earlier today at ChinaJoy2017, a digital entertainment expo held in Shanghai, along with a trailer showcasing the car and how it will look in-game. The Regalia will sport a 7.2-liter supercharged V12 with a max of 536 horsepower.
Beginning August 1, Forza Horizon 3 and Final Fantasy 15 players will be able to download the Regalia for free, but only if they have one of those two games installed by that date. A code to unlock the car will be sent through either the Forza Horizon 3 or Xbox Live messaging systems.
There’s no word on whether the Regalia will be available at a later date as DLC, but it has happened before with other content. Halo‘s Warthog was added last year and given out to those who played Halo 5: Guardiansor Halo: The Master Chief Collection. However, it was later made available again for free through a special event.
The Regalia, for those who don’t know, is a crucial part of Final Fantasy 15. Noctis and crew wouldn’t have gotten very far without it, as it’s the predominant mode of transportation — a chocobo can only take players so far. Beginning the game as a simple car, it eventually takes on the role of the airship at one point, but don’t expect it to sprout wings for its appearance in Horizon 3. Most recently, the Regalia was given the ability to go off-road through a modification that turns it into a monster truck.
In related news, Square Enix recently released information on the upcoming multiplayer expansion coming to Final Fantasy 15. Titled Comrades, the co-op expansion will allow players to fully customize avatars and then join up to three other players via matchmaking to engage in quests. The closed beta for Comrades will run from August 3 to August 8 and will be available on both PS4 and Xbox One worldwide. It should be noted that it will only be downloadable by Final Fantasy 15 expansion pass holders.
