Players of Fortnite‘s Battle Royale game mode are known for their ambitious and sometimes outrageous methods of getting ahead in the game. Earlier this week, one Battle Royale player revealed their brilliant but fiendish trick to bait enemy players and get kills quickly.
But the latest winning “strategy” in Fortnite Battle Royale was purely accidental, says the player who managed to pull it off. On Reddit, a player named xCaptainTjx explains that they managed to win a round of Battle Royale just by staying hidden. The player explains that they hid “the whole time” and that when it was just them and one final opponent left, the opponent fell to their death.
“When the last guy saw me he jumped out of my fort to chase me and died to fall damage,” and as a result, XCaptainTjx managed to secure a victory despite getting zero kills. The player reveals that they ended the match “dazed and confused with laughter,” also admitting that they “suck at the game” and “never expected to win a match.”
The story highlights one reason why Fortnite Battle Royale has millions of players. Winning without getting a single kill is incredibly unlikely, but it’s still possible. Every single Battle Royale match has the potential for silliness or improbable wins, kills, and hilarious tales to tell after it’s over.
It’s also why Fortnite is considered to be one of the best shooter games of 2017. Few games have the ability to switch it up and keep things interesting quite the way that Fortnite does and that’s what’s led everyone to rave about it this year.
Developer Epic Games surely realizes the reasons for the success of its game, which is why it continues to introduce increasingly outlandish content to the title. This includes the “Boogie Bomb” which makes enemies dance to their death or the holiday event which adds new holiday heroes wearing Santa hats and ugly Christmas sweaters.
Season two of Fortnite Battle Royale has now begun, and players can expect plenty more content to be released over the course of it. While the existing winning strategies and off the wall gameplay features give people enough reasons to stick by it, the player base could be set to grow even more soon. Watch this space to find out what else Epic Games is planning and the impressive ways that players make use of it all.
