With all of the loot box drama surrounding Middle-earth: Shadow of War, many players are looking to find a way to get rich in the game without opening their real wallet and dropping additional cash. Although it’s not as easy to grind gold in Middle-earth: Shadow of War as it is in some other games with microtransactions, there are a few ways to earn gold quickly that players can concentrate on.
Shadow of War has two main forms of currency: Mirian and Gold. Mirian is free and can be earned through lots of in-game activities. Gold, on the other hand, is a rare resource that is primarily obtained through real money transactions, aside from a few exceptions.
Gold is used for microtransactions and loot boxes and can be a very valuable resource for players who are grinding away at the end-game. Here is every way players can currently earn Gold without spending real money…
1.) Complete a Daily or Community Challenge that lists Gold as a Reward – This is the primary repeatable way to earn Gold without spending money. New challenges appear every day and players who want to get rich should plan to log in once every 24 hours and complete any tasks that offer Gold as the reward. This is a very similar structure to the quest systems in most of the Blizzard games.
2.) Take over your first Fortress in an Online Conquest – Players earn 500 Gold for successfully completing their first assault.
3.) Repel another player’s Fortress attack in an Online Conquest – After taking over a Fortress, players can place an Overlord and Warchiefs in control of it and then other players will be able to attack it. If the team in the Fortress fights off the attack successfully, then the player is rewarded with 50 Gold.
At this point, those are all the ways to earn Gold without bringing your credit card into the equation. Players who do plan to spend some money can obtain the currency at a rate of 1 Gold for every $0.01. There are bundle deals that offer slight discounts for buying Gold in bulk.
Whether you head to the Marketplace to spend some money or into the Challenges to start the slow and steady grind, good luck!
