Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Easter Egg Covers Old Glitch

The original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is still to this day considered one of the best multiplayer shooter experiences on a console and its influence can be felt in almost every FPS that releases. But while Modern Warfare may have been a standout multiplayer experience, it was not without its problems. Glitches, random bugs, and a number of exploits did take away from the multiplayer, in part, although some were actually entertaining to watch.

With the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, the devs have sought to improve on an already stellar multiplayer experience simply by giving the game a little current-gen polish. By and large, what you see in Modern Warfare Remastered looks and feels exactly like it did in 2007, with a few notable exceptions. Those glitches and exploits, for example, are long gone.

That being said, the Modern Warfare Remastered developers have not altogether forgotten the glitches in the game; in fact, one of the most popular ones has received its own Easter Egg. Originally, while playing through the Modern Warfare campaign, there was one particular area where players could glitch through the map and fall to their doom. In 2007 it was a minor, but entertaining occurrence – one that, if it were today, would have led to plenty of funny GIFs and just as much criticism of Call of Duty.

Thankfully the developers at Raven Software, the folks who oversaw the remastering of Modern Warfare, both fixed the glitch spot and put a little nod to its existence. Now players will see a ‘Caution’ wet floor sign where players used to slip the floor and fall for eternity.

If nothing else it’s nice to see the Call of Duty developers pay homage to some of the gamers’ favorite memories from Modern Warfare Remastered. The release itself is one big pack of nostalgia, so it only makes sense that the people working on the game try to capture as many of those moments as they can. In this case, it better suited the remaster to have the glitch removed, but living a fun Easter Egg in its place works just fine.

Unfortunately, those who want to experience the nostalgia of Modern Warfare Remastered will have to also pick up Infinite Warfare, a pricey proposition for those who may have jumped off the COD train. At some point, MW may split off from the package, but as of right now if you want that extra dose of FPS nostalgia, it comes at a premium price.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
