Black Friday, the United States’ largest retail sales event of the year, is less than two weeks away and Sony has ensured that PlayStation will be ready. The company recently revealed its official sales plans for Black Friday and the days surrounding it, including Cyber Monday. Sales plans include heavy discounts on the standard PlayStation 4 Slim and the PS VR headset as well as a PS Store games sale.
The PlayStation 4 discount is Sony’s spotlight deal of the holiday. The PlayStation 4 Slim with a 1TB hard drive currently retails for $300, but starting November 19 and running through Cyber Monday on November 17 the same PlayStation 4 will cost just $200. Regarding the PS VR headset, all bundles will be discounted down to $300 for the holiday. While it doesn’t seem like the standalone headset will be discounted further, the deals on bundles featuring cameras and controllers should more than makeup for it.
Some examples of PS VR bundles going on sale through the week of Black Friday include a PS VR Gran Turismo Sports bundle that includes a camera and will be discounted to $300. The PlayStation VR Skyrim VR Bundle with a camera and Move controllers will cost $350. Both deals are great prices compared to current retail listings, even if the standalone headset deal isn’t.
Make sure to look for other accessories and PlayStation hardware to also go on sale during the Thanksgiving holiday. For example, DualShock 4 wireless controllers will also be discounted, dropping from $60 to as low as $40. Certain color combinations or styles may be more expensive, but for those looking for a new DualShock 4, it’s going to be worth looking around.
Watch out more retailer-specific hardware deals on bundles, consoles, and accessories on Black Friday. And for those curious, it looks like discounts for the PlayStation 4 Pro will be rare if they exist at all.
Regarding individual game sales, Sony’s plans shift a bit compared to the hardware sale. Game sales will start on November 21 and last through November 28 and like most of Sony’s sales, PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a larger discount than non-subscribers. More details on PlayStation Store game sales should be coming in the next week or so, so stay patient.
