Street Fighter 5 Video Shows Off Kolin’s Moves

About a couple of weeks ago, Capcom officially unveiled that it will be adding Kolin to the roster of its fighting game Street Fighter 5 as a playable character at the end of this month on February 28, 2017. With her debut in the fifth installment in the long-running series set for next week, Capcom has decided to give fans of the game a better idea of how Kolin will do battle with a brand new video that displays her move set against some of the other combatants in Street Fighter 5.

As seen below in the video courtesy of the official Street Fighter YouTube channel, Street Fighter 5‘s community manager Matt Edwards gives fans a brief overview regarding Kolin’s history in the fighting game series, while also offering up various tips on how to play as her, and why she’s such a great choice to have against opponents. Not to mention, Edwards provides a solid look at Kolin’s V-Skill and V-Trigger.

For those unaware, Kolin initially appeared in the fighting game franchise from Capcom way back in the 1990s as a non-playable character in Street Fighter 3 who is a member of the secret Illuminati organization, with her boss Gill having gifted her with the power of ice, of which she now heavily relies upon in combat. As far as her V-Skill and V-Trigger are concerned, Kolin’s V-Skill is a lunging strike that allows players to capitalize on a solid combo opportunity, while also working as a counter maneuver as well. Kolin’s V-Trigger blasts out a growing path of deadly icicles that ought to stop opponents’ stun gauges from recovering when it hits them.

It won’t be long now before all of the goodies for Street Fighter 5‘s Season 2 start to become available, with the roster primed to grow thanks to the addition of six new characters, which will bring the total playable characters from 22 to 28. As it happens, a season pass to unlock all six characters as they’re released – including Akuma – can be purchased for $30, and it will also provide fans with an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme too. However, Capcom has yet to confirm the identity of the remaining four fighters to be added.

While it’s safe to say that the addition of new characters to Street Fighter 5 will excite fans of the game, many have argued that these fighters should have been available at the outset, as having a wide selection of choices from a playable roster could have spurred fans into buying the title at launch, which could have possibly helped SF5‘s poor sales. Nevertheless, Capcom is committed to a long-term post-launch plan for Street Fighter 5, as the publisher and developer have said support for the game could last well into the year 2020.

Street Fighter 5 is out now for PC and PlayStation 4.
