While I did manage to play a half dozen games of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta, something is clearly up with the game, which is not giving the greatest first impression, drowning in a number of server issues.
There were a few different errors yesterday, most of which had to do with matchmaking. Either the game would sit you by yourself in a lobby, never able to actually place you in a group. All the while it would give you weird messages implying it was ready (“finalizing check on pre-start,” “handoff to occur momentarily”), yet nothing would ever come of it. I also experienced situations where games would finish, but then the entire group would get caught in this same loop, with another game simply never starting at all.
Today is a different story, and many players are being greeted with an error message when they try to log in at all, reminding them of the dates and times of the beta (which runs from yesterday until Monday), and directs players to the Activision support site if “you believe you’re seeing this message in error.”
When you go to that site, there is a “hot” topic in the FAQ that says that Activision is aware of Infinite Warfare’s matchmaking issues, and it’s being looked into. But from what I can tell, there is not any explanation for the inability of players to log in at all today. I have reached out to Activision directly for comment, but have not heard back yet. They are not sharing any additional news on their social channels.
