The Division Survival Update Arrives for PS4 with Pro Support

Several days ago, Ubisoft Massive promised that its third-person shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division, would receive an update that provides the game with support for Sony’s PS4 Pro. Now, the developer has made good on its word by officially releasing the patch for the upgraded console today alongside the game’s long-awaited Survival update for The Division‘s PlayStation 4 fans.

As evidenced in a tweet from Ubisoft, the arrival of The Division‘s Survival update on PS4 is officially out and comes about a month after the expansion’s release date for PC and Xbox One players. Of course, those who are playing the game on PlayStation 4 Pro consoles ought to experience better visuals in some areas, with the patch enabling the UI and menus to render at native 4K, while the title itself still renders in 1080p and includes improvements made to the quality of shadows and reflections.

While it appears as if The Division‘s Survival update for PS4 is rolling out relatively smoothly for most fans on the platform, there were some initial hangups during the expansion’s launch, as several players reported receiving messages involving Delta errors. Developers apparently rectified such problems but also stated that there could be “residual effects” after Agents logged back into the game, which will undoubtedly remind some fans of the experiences they had with the title’s Underground DLC release issues.

Initial launch woes aside, PlayStation 4 fans of The Division who already own the game’s Season Pass ought to be able to download the Survival expansion at no additional cost. Players who wish to purchase the DLC as a standalone item can do so by paying $15.

Following the launch of Survival for The Division‘s Xbox One and PC fans, Ubisoft revealed that the game’s player numbers were moving “in a positive direction,” suggesting that the game could eventually have its active user base return to the relatively high numbers it showed during launch. With this being the case, it will be interesting to see if opening up Survival to PS4 fans will go on to goose those figures in an even more favorable manner.

As far as the future of The Division is concerned, though, the only concrete bit of information that can be acknowledged is that developers will eventually release Last Stand, which is the game’s final piece of paid content, sometime in early 2017. The DLC was initially supposed to launch in winter of this year but was delayed due to “lingering issues,” so fans can only hope that Ubisoft Massive will be ready to deliver the expansion in full at the beginning of next year without any more postponements.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
