Watch Dogs 2 Multiplayer Fix Coming ‘Soon’, Says Ubisoft

One of the main selling points for Watch Dogs 2 is the game’s seamless online multiplayer. Unfortunately, the seamless multiplayer feature didn’t work properly before the game even launched to the masses, and at the time of this writing, is still not available. However, Ubisoft is well aware of the issue and according to a statement, it released earlier today, the development team at Ubisoft Montreal is working hard to resolve the game’s ongoing issues.

Ubisoft has said that the Watch Dogs 2 development team has “prioritized finding a solution for activating the seamless multiplayer feature in the game.” The team is being careful and conducting tests to find this solution, so that when it does add seamless multiplayer back to Watch Dogs 2, it won’t negatively impact the single player experience. As for when fans can expect to see the feature restored, Ubisoft is hoping to come up with a solution to Watch Dogs 2‘s online multiplayer issues as soon as this weekend.

Gamers that were looking forward to the launch of Watch Dogs 2 specifically for its seamless multiplayer functionality may find the wait for the feature to be difficult. For those that are feeling impatient, there’s no shortage of things to do in Watch Dogs 2‘s open world San Francisco to help pass the time.

For example, Watch Dogs 2 players can complete the main story as well as its wealth of side missions. For those that are tired of the game’s single player, though, there’s still some online multiplayer options available. In fact, players can freely explore San Francisco and hack the city to their heart’s content with people on their friend’s list.

Even so, consumers expect products to be functional at launch, so it will be interesting to see how the issues with the seamless multiplayer functionality impact in the game’s sales and the future of the franchise. The original Watch Dogs already landed the series in hot water with an obvious visual downgrade from the E3 trailer, leading many to feel as though the game didn’t deliver what was promised. Now that Watch Dogs 2 isn’t delivering on its promise of seamless online multiplayer, there’s a chance that its sales or even the sales of the probable third game in the series may take a hit.

However, if Ubisoft is able to fix the issues soon, then fans may be forgiving. After all, Watch Dogs 2still has plenty to do and see even without seamless online multiplayer, so hopefully there’s enough content to keep fans occupied until the online problems are resolved.

Watch Dogs 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One and will be available for PC on November 29th.
